Philip Morris International (PMI) is a leading international tobacco company working to deliver a smoke-free future and provide scientifically-substantiated alternatives to current adult nicotine consumers who would otherwise continue to smoke.

Following its 2022 acquisition of Swedish Match – a leader in oral nicotine delivery – PMI both created a global smoke-free champion and entered the U.S. marketplace for the first time ever. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has authorized versions of both PMI’s leading smoke-free product and Swedish Match’s snus products as Modified Risk Tobacco Products.

Since 2008, PMI has invested more than $12.5 billion to develop, scientifically assess, and commercialize innovative smoke-free products for adults who would otherwise continue to smoke, with the goal of completely ending the sale of cigarettes.

As of December 31, 2023, PMI’s smoke-free products were available for sale in 84 markets, and PMI estimates that approximately 20.8 million adults around the world had already switched to our leading smoke-free product and stopped smoking.

In 2024, PMI will bring its flagship smoke-free product to the U.S. market to provide another, better choice to America’s approximately 28 million adult smokers.
